Recent Voiceover-Related Interviews at Toonzone
May 24, 2013 By Edward Liu
One reason why I’m exploring voiceover is from the experience of interviewing voiceover talent for Toonzone. Here are a few of the latest voiceover-related interviews I’ve done in the past year or so:
- Talking Toons and Turtles with Voice Actor Rob Paulsen: Great fun interviewing veteran voice actor Rob Paulsen about his work as Donatello in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show, and his awesome Talkin’ Toons podcast.
- Jay Oliva and David Selby at the The Dark Knight Returns, Pt. 1 World Premiere at the Paley Center NYC: David Selby was very nice and Jay Oliva is awesome. My recorder failed me in the interview with Andrea Romano, but most of what she told me came up one way or another in the panel discussion after the screening.
- NYCC 2012: Roundtable Interviews with The Dark Knight Returns Producer Bruce Timm and Voice Director Andrea Romano: The fact that I got to talk with Andrea Romano at the Paley Center premiere meant I was OK with not getting to ask as many questions as I wanted to at the roundtables. But I guess that’s a frustration all press have at these things.
- A Morning in Rob Paulsen’s Voice-Over Seminar: When I found out Rob Paulsen would be at New York Comic Con and running a seminar with Lau Lapides, I made sure to be there. Was not disappointed.
- Greg Cipes on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: I’ve been a fan of Greg Cipes since discovering him in Teen Titans, and it was a blast to talk with him about being Michelangelo in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series on Nickelodeon. Just two more actors to go and I’ll have all 4 of the new Turtles. Booyakasha!
- LEGO Batman: The Movie Premiere at the Paley Center for Media, NYC: Got to meet and speak with Clancy Brown (Lex Luthor), Troy Baker (Batman), and Travis Willingham (Superman), along with director Jon Burton and director of photography Jeremy Pardon. The movie is tons of fun, too.
If I had to do a “greatest hits” collection, I’d link to A Life in Voice Acting with Bob Bergen, the writeup of Bob’s introduction to voiceover class, and my big interview with voice/casting director extraordinare Andrea Romano.
